... from smashingpumpkins.com it's official, The Smashing Pumpkins are currently writing songs for their upcoming album, their first since 2000. no release date has yet been set, but the band plans to begin recording this summer. Why do I get my hopes up? Do we really think this is going to happen? Probably not, but the music is SO good that having hope is the least we can do.

Isn't this just really a Corgan solo album because isn't just Billy and Jimmy working on it?
even tho i think they'll probably self destruct before anything good comes of it, im still holding out hope for a little bit of magic....and a chance to see em live again.

I know it'll just get me mocked for being perpetually stuck in the 90's, but the potential for this to happen has me really excited.
