f%$* the police, f%$* the police, f%$*'em!
i was issued a traffic ticket on sunday. liz and i were coming back from target in troy, but we needed to stop at holiday market for some of the tasty italian bread. i turn right on to main st. from the 696 service drive not noticing the "no turn on red" sign. the officer was traveling south on main then turned around and pulled me over as i entered the holiday market parking lot. not only was given a citation for turning right on red, but i was also given a warning for not changing my address on my license. of course, i probably would have received a second citation for the address change, but i fibbed and told him i only moved to ferndale a month back.
looking over the ticket with its list of violations and corresponding fines, i was really shocked. if i'm reading the ticket correctly its a $115 fine and 3 points. that is simply ridiculous. i wasn't even speeding!
anyway, here is my true dilemma. how do i plead guilty to the charge without getting the points? the $115 will be hard on the pocket book, but i can find a way to manage the one time fee. what i can not afford is the increase in my monthly car insurance. my driving record is clean. you would think the officer would give me a break since i'm new to the area *wink*, *wink*
taking a step backwards. the reason i haven't changed my driver's license address is because i'm still taking advantage of my parents group auto insurance. having an out on the pending points to my record is dire because not only will my monthly payment go up, but also the monthly payments of the entire group. (i.e., my parents and sisters)
if you have been in a similar situation and have any advice, i am very open to any suggestions.
